Requirements for Foreign Workers in Indonesia

It should be known that there are a number of requirements that foreign workers need to fulfill according to Manpower Ministry Ministerial Decree No. 16/2015. They are: • The worker’s level of education must be in accordance with the position being occupied. • The worker’s competence must be demonstrable through the use of supporting certificates. This article is for those foreigners who work in Indonesia on a limited stay permit (KITAS) that is initially sponsored by a local company (PT, PT PMA or Representative Office) but who want to change the sponsorship of their KITAS from the company to their Indonesian spouse (husband or wife). For example, you are an expat who moved to Indonesia several years ago to work for a local company. This means that you must have obtained a company-sponsored KITAS. A KITAS is a limited stay permit that has to be sponsored by either a company or spouse.
